Homemade Burgers & Fries

An easy, cozy classic with a gourmet twist—because you deserve a burger night that feels elevated yet effortless.

Ingredients

For the Fries:

  • 3–4 yellow potatoes, peeled and cut into classic French fry shape

  • Olive oil

  • Sea salt

For the Burgers:

  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey (4 oz per patty)

  • Brioche buns (non-negotiable)

  • Iceberg lettuce, shredded

  • Bread & butter pickles

  • Yellow onions, thinly sliced

  • Olive oil + butter (for browning)

For the Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise

  • 1 tbsp ketchup

  • 1 tsp yellow mustard

  • Dash of Worcestershire, BBQ sauce, or hot sauce

  • Pinch of garlic granules

  • Sea salt, to taste

Instructions

🍟 Crispy Oven-Baked Fries

  1. Prep: Peel and slice potatoes into fries.

  2. Soak: Let them sit in ice water for at least 30 minutes.

  3. Dry: Drain and thoroughly pat dry with a towel.

  4. Bake: Toss with olive oil and salt. Spread on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 375°F for 30–45 minutes, flipping halfway. They should be golden and crisp.

🍔 Smash-Style Burgers

  1. Shape: Divide meat into 4 oz portions, roll into balls, and press into thin patties by hand.

  2. Cook: Sear on a hot skillet or grill for 2–3 minutes per side.

To Finish

  1. Brown the onions: In a skillet, heat olive oil and butter. Add sliced onions and cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes until soft and lightly golden (not fully caramelized).

  2. Make the sauce: Mix mayo, ketchup, mustard, your choice of Worcestershire/BBQ/hot sauce, garlic granules, and salt.

  3. Assemble: Toast the brioche buns. Layer sauce, lettuce, pickles, onions, and patty. Press, serve, and enjoy.
